A furious Australia Post customer has launched a savage attack on the postal service, its staff – who she likens to the Grinch – and a universally hated delivery act.
Sydneysider Jenny Tian went on a rapid fire TikTok rant, hammering the service for all the things that make it “so sh**”.
She hit out at Australia Post’s limited opening hours, its “grumpy” and bland staff, and the annoying red delivery slips that are left at customers’ doors when they miss a parcel at home.
“Every time I get one of their cards I think ‘oh no, I’ve been summoned to waste an hour of my life.
“The staff are dressed in red and white and they’re handing out packages – they should feel jolly like Santa but no, they’re as grumpy as the Grinch.
“Their personalities are as unavailable as their opening hours.”
Ouch.
And Ms Tian did not leave out the eclectic range of goods on offer to buy at Australia Post offices, including “airfryers and breadmakers and coffee machines”.
“I came here to pick up a parcel, not kitchen appliances.”
The aggressive rant stirred up hundreds of comments, with many joining in to vent their own frustrations with the postal service and its faults.
“They like to send me texts that my package has been delivered … but it hasn’t and they kept it,” one person wrote.
“I’m just wondering how I missed the delivery when I haven’t left the house in month?” someone else wrote.
“They never knock I swear to god,” said another.
“It’s a nightmare when you get a pick up slip for a parcel that will easily fit into the letter slot but they make you waste 20 minutes instead.”
Some commenters were more sympathetic to the workers, saying some are “really kind” but overworked, and others may be “grumpy because of rude customers”.
“We all deserve better than we are getting from Australia Post they don’t live up to what they say,” another frustrated commenter left.
Another customer took to TikTok to vent about the post offices, saying they had some of the “worst customer service in Australia”.
“Australia Post, this is the only place that will have you waiting in line for 30 minutes only for you to get to the front and have zero sense of urgency,’ regular TikTok poster, Teddy, said.
“Brother, I’ve been in line for so long I bought an airfryer and a Foo Fighters CD. Can we get some hustle? There’s more action in a graveyard than there is in this store.”
Maybe the last missed delivery slip was the one that broke the TikTokers’ backs. Or maybe it is just an aggressive release of frustrations to drum up outrage.
Either way, Australia Post chief executive Paul Graham has previously made the controversial suggestion to end daily letter deliveries in a bid to cut losses, after the service warned delivery costs were causing an “unstoppable decline” on the business – which is heading for its first financial loss since 2015.
