“Tesi has been in the Broncos system for a number of years and is highly regarded across the club,” coach Kevin Walters said in a club statement.
“But we believe he will receive more opportunities elsewhere and it’s an indication of our respect for Tesi that we have allowed him to depart.
“We wish Tesi all the best in the next part of his journey.”
Niu will reportedly sign a multi-year deal with the Dolphins and join former Broncos teammates Jamayne Isaako and Brenko Lee in making the switch.
Following Reece Walsh’s arrival in Red Hill and Herbie Farnworth expressing his desire to play fullback, Niu fell down then pecking order.
